The tools are the same story. The bill isn’t.
Most portrait photographers don’t only sell face to face anymore. A client wants to think it over, a delivery happens by link instead of in the studio, a sale closes over a video call — N-Vu classifies all of that as an online sale, and it takes a cut. Portrait Reveal doesn’t have a second, more expensive category for how a client happens to buy. Every sale, however it closes, costs you the same US$14.99 a month and nothing else.
On N-Vu, avoiding that cut means paying more, not less. The free N-Vu One plan still takes a 12% commission on online and remote sales. IPS galleries start at N-Vu Three — US$19 a month — but N-Vu Three still takes a 9% commission on online and remote sales. To get to 0% commission you have to move up to the N-Vu Five plan at US$59 a month, more than three times the price of N-Vu Three.

Cheap or commission-free — N-Vu doesn’t offer both. N-Vu Three is an affordable entry point for IPS at US$19 a month, but it still takes 9% of every online and remote sale. The N-Vu Five plan drops that commission, but at US$59 a month it costs three times as much before you’ve made a single sale. Sell over US$5,300 a year in online sales and N-Vu Five becomes the cheaper N-Vu option — but it’s still roughly four to eleven times what Portrait Reveal costs at the same volume. Portrait Reveal’s price is the same number for every photographer, whether you sell $500 or $50,000 a year: US$14.99 a month, with no commission.
